Android phones have so many phones that people are spoilt for choice. It’s very difficult that you will settle for one phone. If you dare to do that another Android phone will come next day only to regret your decision. With the launch of Galaxy S7, the race for crown has become even more intense. It has fuelled the debate: Is Samsung Galaxy S7 the best Android Smartphone ever?
It has all of the great features of Samsung Galaxy Edge. It has a tremendous resolution, firepower, build quality, processing power and pragmatism. Apart from that, they are extremely versatile. Icing on the cake is you get Samsung Gear VR.
We did not post a review earlier as we wanted to test it properly. The best way to judge a phone is to use it for few days and travel with it. This allows you to find possible flaws or bugs with phone if any.
Galaxy S7 is an awesome phone that performed under all conditions. It took amazing pictures and battery power did not disappoint. It’s very close to perfection. It’s better than Google Nexus 6P and iPhone 6S. However, it’s not as sexy and good looking than their biggest rivals.
The launch of Samsung S7 has ensured that the rivalry between Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy is going to be continued in 2016. People will keep debating which has more impressive features:
Touted as one of the best smartphone in 2016, iPhone 7’s display and resolution is very high. It comes in two variants: 4.7in screen and a 5.5in screen. In comparison to Apple, Samsung Galaxy has a 5.1 inch Quad HD super AMOLED display. Both iPhone 7s and Galaxy s7 smartphones provide their users high-quality movie experience. However, to transfer media contents to iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy S7, you may need a proper mobile devices video converter.
|Screen Type||Curved screen|
|Display Size||5.1 inch|
|Resolution||1440 x 2560 pixels|
|Protection||Cornering Gorilla Glass and TouchWiz UI|
AMOLED has an advantage that it’s quite efficient and does not drain battery life. It can do so as OLED technology does not need a full-screen backlight to display any picture or video. It can turn individual pixels on and off. So you can enjoy the high-quality display without compromising on the battery life.
Samsung Galaxy s7 with Android Marshmallow and the new TouchWiz build it utilizes the edge of the screen efficiently. It comes handy in storing more applications in the hotbar.
If there is one feature that stands out in the Samsung Galaxy s7, this is camera. Though it has lower resolution than s6/s5, it has larger pixels and brighter and better lens. Because of this
it performs well even in low light. You can say Samsung has tried to compensate the slightly lower resolution with low- light performance feature. It has also optical image stabilization that can record 4K video.
It has a new dual pixel autofocus technology which is only available in DSLR cameras. Each pixel on the s7 sensor acts as an autofocus point, so the camera can quickly focus on the subject.
This feature is particularly helpful when shooting video.The camera performance is good in both bright and low light situations. With the optional preview mode, you can delete or share photos immediately after clicking it. The optical image stabilization feature saves images from blurring.
Camera quality has been one of the most important features in Samsung Galaxy series phones and with Galaxy s7 phone; it has propelled itself in a different orbit. And the good news is these phones deliver on it, even if they aren’t quite the quantum leap you might expect.
Samsung s7 is a brilliant Android smartphone camera. Though, some detail is lost in good conditions compared to its earlier versions, but it compensates this loss with its speed and low light performance.
First of all, Galaxy s7 is not much advanced over Galaxy S6, it has just improved upon it. Samsung S7 has also addressed some of the concerns. It is heavier than both iPhone 6S and Galaxy S6. This time even backside has picked up some amount of curves, which makes it more comfortable to hold than S6. It gives a much little plasticky feeling. This time it has a much better speaker.
Smooth fingerprint experience
Samsung’s fingerprint sensors are tucked inside the home button. With Android Mashmallow 6.0, it support almost all fingerprints feature. It means, you can open the password manager quickly and unlock your phone easily.
The feature will be important in future when more smartphone apps will have fingerprint software. The double-press of thee home button is the fastest way to launch the camera and no other phone comes close.
The SD card and micro-USB
The SD card feature has returned in the Galaxy S7 Android smartphone. It has got a microSD card tucked into SIM card tray. It provides 200 gigabytes of actual storage available to you. You can use the card to transfer pictures and videos. A few experts are questioning the return of the SD card.
Samsung uses two types of processors: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and Exynos 8 octa-core processor. Differences in the performance of these two processors are negligible.
The Samsung S7 is running on Android 6.0.1 which is the most recent version of Android. It’s also the most updated version till the time of writing the report. It has got the February 2016 Android security patches.
With Samsung KNOX service on board, you can keep your personal information safe and secured. Another advantage is that Galaxy S7 is encrypted. Apart from that, it has its own app ecosystem. You will have to sign up the service and few extra little steps to avail its services, but it’s a little price of admission.
The Samsung Pay is a very good feature that lets you use your phone for purchases. You can even download Google’s and Microsoft’s app later. It also depends on what type of carrier you got.
The user interface customization is as good as they ever have been. The UI is quite fast and fluid. You can even move apps off from the home screen.
